Winter Wedding Hotel Búðir // Chris & Hattie

chris & hattie

November in Iceland is the month where winter sets in. The air is chill, the ground is frozen and the days become shorter. On this particular November morning the low hanging winter sun illuminated the snow caped mountains, glittered on the frozen grass and added a splash of colour to the frozen, still landscapes on the Snæfellesnes Peninsula. The silence was only broken by the occasional croak of the ravens.

We learned a long time ago that there is no use in getting annoyed by the weather you just have to embrace what ever the weather gods throw your way and work with it. And that brings us back to Belinda and Terry. They embraced all the weather they got on their wedding day and they got it all. From gale force winds and rain up in the mountains to pockets of calm down by the ocean.

Sometimes when you take big risks you get great rewards. Planning an outdoor wedding in Iceland in November is a big risk. Hurricane force winds, sleet, snow, rain, frost or all of the above are just a few of the things that might make standing outside in a wedding dress a bit unpleasant.
